//Sony Playstation Portable (PSP) Product Review//

The Good:
If you are looking for the complete package in handheld gaming, PSP is your answer. With ability to store pictures, movies and music, Sony proves that this baby is not just your regular handheld gaming system. The PSP also has the ability to connect to Wi-Fi networks and to allow i Internet browsing and RSS feed downloads. Not only can you connect to the internet and play games online, but you can also connect to other PSP syst me m s through an a A d D- H hoc structure which allows games to be played among st you and your friends. With the ability to update itself, Sony plans to keep you busy with brand -new tools to make gaming fun and innovative. Furthermore, Sony plans to release a GPS attachment and a camera attachment in the near future to add more possibilities to your PSP.
The Bad:
Sony debuted introduced the PSP at the price of $250. For a handheld system, that is pretty expensive, if you are not basing it on it other capabilities. Also since its release, there has not been a constant rollout of great games which may be a n issue concern to the pure gamer. Because of this, ma ny gamers have turned away from the PSP and said hello to its competitor, the Nintendo DS. Even though , the PSP can do a lot , it requires one to buy a bigger memory card than the one that is provided. It can also be a bit bulky for one’s pocket if you plan on using it as a an MP3 mp MP 3 player compared to the size of a standard iPod. Finally, its limited network capabilities hinder it in an environment like Penn State where it is unable to connect to the Wi-Fi network via VPN.
Overall:
In my opinion, since I own a PSP, I would say it is a good buy. I can listen to music, watch videos or even play games on the way to class or at my own leisure. As for the lack of great games, I would have to say I agree but if you don’t mind hacking away at your PSP, then you could do some pretty cool things like running homemade software. I am looking forward to the many updates including the camera attachment that will allow the PSP to communicate through Video over Internet Protocol (VoIP) IP. In the end, I give the PSP , a 4 out 5, due to its lack of ability to maintain a solid collection of games to choose from.
